Prof. HU Bin is an Associate Professor and Director of global climate governance research at the Institute of Climate Change and Sustainable Development at Tsinghua University. He specializes in climate policy and governance, climate risk and adaptation, and environmental economics.
On August 5th, His session highlights climate risk as a pressing global threat that demands immediate action. Achieving carbon neutrality is now a worldwide consensus to combat climate change. Bin Hu is an Associate Professor and Director of global climate governance research at Institute of Climate Change and Sustainable Development at Tsinghua University.
Bin Hu specializes in climate policy and governance, climate risk and adaptation, and environmental economics. His research has been widely published in academic journals and featured in major media outlets. He received the Honorable Mention Award from the Journal of Insurance Issues and the Center for the Study of Insurance Regulation for his work on climatic variations and the market value of insurance firms—recognized by the Casualty Actuarial Society as a guiding industry study and featured in a keynote speech in New York.
He served as Executive Deputy Editor of Introduction to Global Climate Governance, part of a key publication series on China’s carbon neutrality pathway led by China’s former Climate Envoy Zhenhua Xie. Dr. Hu has contributed directly to high-level climate diplomacy, authoring the final draft of the Co-Chairs’ Summary at the Friends of the Paris Agreement Dialogue, submitted to the UN Secretary-General and COP28/COP29 Presidencies.
Bin Hu has been invited to participate in second-track climate dialogues bilaterally and multilaterally, and made invited presentations around the world.
