Being an alliance that’s composed of 15 leading universities from 9 countries across 6 continents, the GAUC has taken talent cultivation and public engagement as one of our primary endeavors in addressing climate change ever since its establishment To prepare today’s youth to lead global climate governance in the future, as well as to engage the society as a whole in this cause, especially with a perspective focusing on the synergy between climate change and other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), GAUC launched the ‘Climate x’ Campaign in 2022. Pooling the collective strength of its member universities, the Campaign spans from local to  global scale.

The program aims to empower youth with the knowledge, skills, and tools, helping them globally envision a sustainable future, take meaningful action, and unlock their potential as talents for the carbon-neutral future.

The Global Youth Summit on Net-Zero Future was first launched by the Global Alliance of Universities on Climate (GAUC) in 2021 to call on global youth to pool their climate actions and ideas to facilitate progress in global climate action. In 2022, the summit was further upgraded to a series of flagship events spanning national, regional, and global levels, forming the “Climate X” Campaign for climate change collaboration. Under the principle of “By youth, for youth”, the Global Youth Summit on Net-Zero Future was entirely organized by outstanding global youth participants of the campaign, amplifying the voices and motivation of outstanding climate talents, also showcasing youth’s responsibility to global climate leaders, policymakers and corporations.

The Global Youth Climate Week, scheduled one week before each COP, was approved at the GAUC Board Meeting in 2021 and highly praised by the former UNFCCC Executive Secretary Patricia Espinosa. Responding to GAUC’s call, over 100 organizations from six continents worldwide collaborated to initiate the 1 st Global Youth Climate Week in 2022.

The 2024 Global Youth Climate Week will be scheduled from Nov 1st- Nov 8th, for more information, please visit: https://www.globalyouthclimateweek.org/
